Transforming Spaces 2026 (TS2026) returns to Nassau this May with an expanded, city-wide programme unfolding from May 23rd to May 31st, 2026. More than an art weekend, TS2026 evolved into an Art Week with immersive cultural experiences designed to move audiences through exhibitions, activations, and dialogue that reveal Nassau itself as an active creative landscape.

This year’s theme, “Chasing Light”, honours the legacy of the late Patricia Glinton-Meicholas—cultural critic, historian, educator, and cherished “Ms. Patti” who was also Creative Nassau’s Vice President and founding member.

Inspired by her poetic voice and intellectual clarity, the theme calls on artists and audiences alike to engage in work that is sharp, reflective, and uncompromisingly honest. ”Chasing Light” is not a passive gesture but a provocation, asking what it means to create, question, and illuminate in a time that demands deeper seeing. Light here becomes both metaphor and method—revealing truth, exposing tension, and guiding transformation.

In response to growing public demand, TS2026 annual art tour expands its access and reach this year with eight guided art buses operating across the two main tour days, offering more opportunities for audiences to experience the full breadth of the weekend.

The week opens on Saturday, May 23rd, beginning with Radical Acts of Publishing at Poinciana Paper Press from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by We Are Our Own Discoverers at TERN Gallery from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., an evening gathering that sets the tone for the days ahead.

The official TS2026 Opening: Chasing Light Poetry Jam takes place on Tuesday, May 26th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at I.C.E. Bahamas, featuring a live poetry reading and music by DJ NE, sponsored by ICE and Caribbean Wines and Spirits.

The Art Bus Tour takes place over two days, Saturday, May 30th, and Sunday, May 31st. Across both days, audiences will move between galleries and institutions presenting some of the most compelling contemporary work in the country today. Participating spaces include CAB Gallery & Studio, TERN Gallery; The Current: Baha Mar Gallery & Art Center, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, V&M Art Gallery, the Visual Art Department at the University of The Bahamas -Pro Gallery.

Tickets for TS2026 are priced at $50 and are available exclusively online via the Transforming Spaces Bahamas website. Given the limited number of seats across the expanded eight-bus system, early purchase is strongly encouraged.

Transforming Spaces 2026 is made possible through the support of Caribbean Bottling Company, Central Bank of The Bahamas, Baha Mar, GSO Legal, and I.C.E. Bahamas. Their continued investment enables the expansion of this national cultural platform and its commitment to making contemporary Bahamian art accessible to wider audiences.

This year’s event is proudly organized by the dedicated TS Committee, who bring a wealth of experience and passion to the initiative.
